Years ago, a common statement that was usually said was 'waste not, want not' which was a way of saying to be green. When you are "green" implies that you are not wasting our precious natural resources. Several years ago, the saying referred to not throwing away food while today's reference is about not totally wasting energy but the primary message is similar. A few decades ago, we did not have as many people or so many electronic devices. The need for gas or electricity is considerably more than it was previously. It will get to a point where our energy supplies will be depleted.
Even though we may find alternative fuels in the near future, we should still make an effort to help save what we already have. If we all try to reduce the amount of pollution we produce while driving, we will see a remarkable decrease in pollution. Any issue that is causing the pollution may be solved by simply not creating it. If every person in the world have their lights on causes a massive use of electricity, think about the amount of electricity which might be saved by everyone turning their lights off.
We have to find a balance between comfort and preservation. For example, every one of the paper, plastic and styrofoam being utilized at fast food eating places are filling up the landfills rapidly. We do not make any kind of effort to recycle the product packaging that comes with our orders and just dump the garbage. All major cities are having this issue without an end in sight. Energy is being wasted when products for one time use are produced then rapidly disposed of.
We won't really think about conserving until something drastic occurs such as a drought or surge in gas prices. How many people never even consider saving on energy, until their energy bill gets so high that they can't afford it. You may only be a single person, and you feel anything that you could do wouldn't help much. It may be true, but alongside others, things will change. To be most effective, you'll want to change your day-to-day routine including not drive frequently, start recycling papers and cans and purchase only products made of recyclable material.
It doesn't require you to make drastic changes to help prevent wasting energy. You don't need to take drives when going for walks would be sufficient. You can cut down water and electricity without affecting your health and everyday life. Just slow down and make your life as easy as you can.
